June 22, 2009 - KFC Sued Over Coupon Promotion
Two Californians have sued KFC Corp. and its parent company, saying they cheated consumers with a chicken-dinner giveaway.
James Asanuma and Veronica Mora are seeking class-action status for the lawsuit they filed last week in Los Angeles, the Chicago Tribune reported Saturday. The suit names parent Yum Brands along with KFC.
The company launched its promotion in May on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." Customers could print online coupons good for a dinner of two pieces of grilled chicken, two side dishes and a biscuit.
The promotion was so popular KFC scaled it back.
Asanuma and Mora charge the company defrauded customers through false advertising.
